"Through
the gate in the croft at Black House there are some lumps and hollows.
Richard Robinson was a cooper at Black House. He sawed his wood in the
croft using a pit saw. That’s what the lumps and hollows are from.
John Walmsley’s mother became his housekeeper then she married
him."
"John
Walmsley married Sara Jane Till who was born at Ellel. The Till family
came to live at Crayshaw Farm, Newton. She was a servant at
Trough House when she met John Walmsley" (A. Walmsley)
